Courses for Overseas Teachers of English
The Professional Development Course for Teachers of English aims to meet your professional needs in all aspects of English language teaching. You complete a needs analysis questionnaire which helps our highly qualified team of teacher trainers to design the programme to suit your objectives and interests. The course provides a balanced programme of methodology, classroom resourcing, current theory, cultural exposure and language enrichment. As a teacher of English, you can expect a challenging learning experience which updates and refreshes your teaching. The course is practical and provides you with new activities, new skills and new techniques.
Seminars and workshops
Based on your needs, the stimulating course content may include: language awareness and analysis, classroom management and lesson planning, teaching the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, testing and evaluation, error correction, materials development and current issues in methodology.
Irish life and culture
The afternoon sessions complement the academic component of the programme. Through a series of visits to places of historical interest as well as lectures and workshops, you gain an overview of the culture, the history and the education system of Ireland.

Refresher Course for Non-Native Teachers
Refresher courses are designed for non-native teachers of English (Primary & Secondary Teachers) who wish to improve their professional skills and English language competence.

Teaching Knowledge Test Course
The Teaching Knowledge Test Course aims to prepare teachers to sit the TKT exam and give foundation in the methodology of Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Course participants explore teaching methodologies, lesson planning, and classroom management.
Course objectives:
- Increase participants’ knowledge of concepts related to language and language use
- Raise awareness of the background to and practice of language teaching and learning
- Prepare participants for TKT exam which can be used to access further training and enhance career opportunities
- Encourage teachers in their professional development
All participants on our teachers courses are also eligible to avail of Comenius funding to take the TKT test in Cork

Content and Language Integrated Learning
The aim of the course is to improve participants’ command of English for the classroom and to identify the principles of effective practice in CLIL.
Course objectives:

- Explore key issues of syllabus design
- Develop classroom management skills for CLIL classroom
