Frequently Asked Questions

Courses:
1. How do I get placed in a class?
You do a placement test on the first day of your course and you are then placed in a class with students of the same level.
2. How many levels are there in the school?
There are 7 levels in Cork Language Centre International from Beginner to Advanced. You can check your level with our online test www.corklanguagecentre.ie
3. What happens if I want to change level?
It is important that you are happy with the level of your class and with the rate of progress you are making. You must talk to your teacher and/or the Director of Studies.
4. How do I know I am making progress?
Your progress is measured and evaluated each Friday. The test ensures you have understood all the concepts, grammar and vocabulary covered during the week. You also have the opportunity once a week to speak with your teacher on an individual basis so that you discuss any academic issues you may have.
5. What are the teaching methods?
CLCI favours a communicative approach which allows you to improve your oral and listening skills through authentic interaction. Student Talking Time is maximised. Where possible all language including grammar is dealt with in realistic contexts.
6. How can I choose the right examination?
Your teachers will advise you on the best choice of examination for your needs. You can also take a pre-test to ensure that you have the necessary level for the chosen examination. (Cork Language Centre International can provide you with an Examination Handbook outlining all the major English Language examinations).

Our hosts are experienced and used to dealing with different nationalities and tastes in food. Your hosts will help you to settle into your accommodation.
